Speaking at the event, the Director General of RMRDC, Prof Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso stated that the PMS training was a necessity for RMRDC to transition from analogue ways of doing things to one that is fully automated, transparent, accountable and efficient. Prof Ike-Muonso charged participants to imbibe the virtue of discipline stressing that nothing worthwhile could be achieved without discipline. The DG informed participants that the new Performance Management System is designed to not only capture staff attendance at work but also track officers’ level of productiveness and efficiency in their given assignments. He pointed out that the PMS would be used to reward outstanding staff and departments that perform exceptionally within a period of time.

Speaking earlier, the Deputy Director of the Performance Management Unit of the Council, Dr Udodirim Ugonna admonished participants to take the training more seriously as the days of paper assessments were gone. Dr Ugonna stated that assessment of staff for promotions, recognitions and rewards would henceforth be done from the PMS portal.
She emphasized that most tasks from Management would be executed through the portal for transparency, efficiency and timely service delivery. Dr Ugonna noted that the reward system was very attractive and that all staff should strive to deliver on their given tasks to stand the chance to win the coveted reward.
In his presentation, the training facilitator and performance management expert, Mr John Moteh demonstrated to participants how to set SMART objectives. He took participants through the concept of performance management and emphasized that the training session will afford participants to learn, unlearn and relearn.
The training is expected to equip participants with the skills and competence to function optimally in a fully automated work environment.
