The Ogun State Coordinating Office of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) participated in the 42nd Annual General Meeting (AGM), Conference and Investiture Ceremony of the 21st President of the Ogun State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, held on 9th July 2026 at Hill Top Hotel Event Hall, Sagamu, Ogun State.

The event brought together government officials, traditional rulers, business leaders, researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, and members of the organised private sector to deliberate on strategies for advancing commerce, industry, mining, and agriculture in Ogun State, and the Council was represented by the Osun State Coordinator, Mr Rabiu B. O., with his team.

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Engr. Akintomide Kehinde, while several distinguished personalities from government, industry, and the private sector attended the ceremony.

The priorities highlighted during the conference aligned with RMRDC’s mandate of promoting local raw materials development, value addition, technology transfer, and resource-based industrialization. The discussions underscored the critical role of research institutions in supporting agricultural transformation and strengthening industrial competitiveness.

Zamfara Stakeholders Endorse Priority Export Commodities to Boost Non-Oil Revenue

On the sidelines of the event, the State Coordinator engaged representatives of the All-Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) and other stakeholders on RMRDC’s programmes and interventions. The AFAN representatives commended the Council’s previous capacity-building and value-addition initiatives and expressed interest in renewed collaboration to support farmers and agro-processors across Ogun State.

The engagement provided an opportunity to further sensitize stakeholders on the Council’s programmes while reaffirming RMRDC’s commitment to promoting agro-industrial development through the effective utilization of Nigeria’s abundant raw material resources.

A major highlight of the event was the investiture of Elder Solomon Olatunji Adeniyi as the 21st President of OGUNCCIMA. In his inaugural address, the new President outlined his vision of strengthening agriculture, industrial development, and private sector participation as drivers of economic growth. He emphasized the importance of adding value to agricultural produce through processing to reduce post-harvest losses, improve farmers’ incomes, create employment opportunities, and enhance the competitiveness of locally produced goods.

He also advocated stronger collaboration between research institutions and farmers to ensure that research findings, innovations, and improved technologies are effectively transferred to end users for increased productivity and sustainable industrial development.
