The Katsina State Coordinating Office of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has intensified efforts to promote mineral development and investment opportunities through a strategic working visit to Gombe State focused on fluorite and gypsum resources.
The visit, carried out recently, by the Katsina State Coordinator, Abubakar Y., was aimed at conducting surveys and baseline studies on fluorite and gypsum deposits, collecting mineral samples for investors and business partners, and sourcing raw materials for the proposed Mega Resource Centre in Katsina State.
The discussions centred on fluorite clusters and the availability of samples in Gombe State, as well as gypsum deposits located in Funakaye Local Government Area. Both state offices also deliberated on modalities for information sharing, mineral sample collection, and collaboration to support Katsina State’s drive to attract investment into the mineral sector.

The Katsina delegation also undertook a familiarisation tour of the RMRDC Gombe State Resource Centre, which was described as well-organised, neat, and showcased raw material samples and was noted for maintaining high operational standards.
Speaking during the visit, the Gombe State Coordinator, Mr Garba A. D., assured the Katsina office of full cooperation in providing access to relevant information, mineral data, and raw material samples needed to support investment activities and the establishment of the proposed Mega Resource Centre in Katsina State.
“The Council remains committed to supporting collaborative efforts that will promote mineral development and industrial growth,” he said.
The Katsina office noted that the Gombe Resource Centre serves as a practical model for investment promotion and could also support learning and research activities for higher institutions and stakeholders interested in raw materials development.
The visit was described as successful and strategic, strengthening inter-state collaboration between both RMRDC offices while opening new channels for joint work in mineral surveying, sample collection, and resource development.
RMRDC Katsina State Office expressed optimism that the partnership would contribute to increased investment opportunities, improved raw material sourcing, and stronger industrial development initiatives in the near future.
