The key ones amongst the challenges include:
Geopolitical Tensions and Trade Policies which can disrupt the flow of raw materials, leading to supply chain bottlenecks and price volatility; Resource Scarcity and Sustainability Concerns whose depletion of natural resources, environmental regulations, and sustainability concerns are putting pressure on companies to adopt responsible sourcing practices and seek alternative materials. In addition, the supply chain disruptions by natural disasters, pandemics (such as Covid 19), or other unforeseen events can disrupt the raw materials supply chain, highlighting the need for resilience and flexibility. In conclusion, despite the fact the world has converged into a global village, there will still be manifestations of complexities in the raw materials supply chain which is a dynamic ecosystem. The ecosystem is facing various challenges which also present opportunities in today’s interconnected world. By addressing key challenges, monitoring industry trends, and implementing sustainable solutions, stakeholders can work together and create a sustainable raw materials supply chain.
