A senior lecturer with the Niger State College of Education (COE) Minna, Dr. Jonathan Gana, has applauded the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) for establishing a Raw Materials Resource Centre in the state as a crucial part of the knowledge students from the educational institute require about raw materials and their uses.
Dr. Gana said this during a visit to the Niger State RMRDC Coordinating office
Dr. Gana who was conducted around the center by Niger State Coordinator of RMRDC, Mr. Yakubu Mohammed, mentioned that thousands of students from the College had participated in educational tours at different times to the RMRDC Resource Centre over the past two years and had shown a remarkable increase in their knowledge of and interest in the various raw materials available in the state including their uses. He noted that upon their return to the College, the visits to the resource center were marked by an inquisitiveness to learn more about the available raw materials in Niger state, and the development and uses of these raw materials by the students. Dr. Gana revealed that the increase in their inquisitive nature has been a pointer in the direction the management of the College needs to take its student’s readiness to learn more about raw materials and utilise them to generate income for them. This pointer is reshaping the curriculum of the college so it encourages interest in raw materials and their development.

The Resource Centre at the RMRDC Niger State Coordinating Office has continued to provide the students of the state, including the College of Education, researchers, Industrialists within the state, and prospective investors with firsthand information, and practical insights on raw materials availability, utilization, and investment potentials.
The Niger State Coordinator of RMRDC, Mr. Yakubu Mohammed, said that the Council will always welcome the students of the College on educational tours because it gave the Council the opportunity to inform firsthand about the ample opportunities available in the state as a method of educating them about the raw materials available in the state, their uses and potentials of the raw materials.
Mr. Yakubu also added that the center is an evidence of the RMRDC’s ongoing commitment to advancing indigenous raw materials research and development under the leadership of the RMRDC’s Director-General, Prof. Nnayelugo Martin Ike-Muonso.
