The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has pledged its support to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Jigawa State. This commitment was made by the Director-General of RMRDC, Prof. Nnanyelugo M. Ike-Muonso, represented by the Director of Planning and Policy Development, Mr. Abubakar Shehu Kollere, during the 4th Expanded National MSME Clinic held in Dutse, the state capital.
The event, organized by the Jigawa State Agency for Youth Empowerment and Employment, brought together key government agencies, financial institutions, and MSMEs to address challenges and explore growth opportunities.

Mr. Kollere highlighted the Council’s mandate to research, develop, exploit, utilize, and promote raw materials in Nigeria. He emphasized that Jigawa State is endowed with abundant mineral and agro-raw materials, such as hibiscus, gum Arabic, sesame, wheat, rice, trona, and columbite, which can be harnessed for economic development.
RMRDC expressed its readiness to collaborate with MSMEs in Jigawa State on research and development initiatives to unlock the full potential of these raw materials. The Council’s doors are open to genuine MSMEs seeking support, and guidance in value addition and product development.

The Director-General assured participants that RMRDC is committed to supporting MSMEs in line with the renewed hope agenda of the current administration. He invited MSMEs to explore opportunities for collaboration with the council in research and development and other areas within its mandate.
The event witnessed the inspection of MSME exhibition pavilions and the commissioning of a retail empowerment shop by Vice President Kashim Shettima and attracted dignitaries including Governors Uba Sani of Kaduna State, Nasir Idris of Kebbi State, and Deputy Governors from Katsina and Sokoto states.
Jigawa State Governor, Mallam Umar Namadi, expressed gratitude for the federal government’s support through the MSME Clinic and related initiatives. He urged entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunities presented.

He also calls for increased collaboration between the government, private sector, and development partners to foster a thriving MSME ecosystem in Jigawa State. “The Expanded National MSME Clinic served as a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and accessing support services for MSMEs in Jigawa State”, He said.
