As part of ongoing efforts to stimulate industrial and economic development in Osun State, the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) recently received a delegation from the National Productivity Centre (NPC) on a courtesy visit to its State Coordinating Office in Osogbo.
The visit, led by the NPC State Coordinator, Mrs. Rabiu Abodunrin, marked a step toward fostering institutional synergy aimed at enhancing productivity and resource utilization within the state.
Welcoming the delegation, the RMRDC State Coordinator, Mr. Adeyemi S.A., facilitated a meet-and-greet session, during which he introduced members of the RMRDC team to their NPC counterparts. He used the opportunity to highlight the mandate of the Council, which focuses on research and development of local raw materials to promote their value addition and drive economic growth.
“We are ready to work together to achieve our goals,” Mr. Adeyemi affirmed, expressing his delight at the engagement and reiterating the Council’s openness to collaborative initiatives.
Mrs. Haruna Gbemisola formally introduced the visiting team, who were warmly received by the RMRDC staff. In her remarks, Mrs. Abodunrin expressed appreciation for the hospitality extended to her team, noting that the cordial reception set a positive tone for the meeting.
Providing context for the visit, Mrs. Abodunrin outlined the NPC’s statutory mandate, established under Decree No. 7 of April 1987. She explained that the Centre was created to stimulate productivity awareness, monitor and analyze productivity trends, and promote a nationwide productivity movement across all sectors of the Nigerian economy.

She emphasized that the NPC also undertakes strategic research to generate evidence-based insights into productivity challenges, with the goal of embedding productivity consciousness into national discourse. “Productivity is key to sustainable economic development, and our mission is to drive that awareness at all levels,” she said.
One of the key outcomes of the visit was a discussion on an upcoming productivity awareness training program for Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Osun State, scheduled for October 14, 2025. The training is designed to equip government personnel with tools and strategies for improving workplace efficiency and output.
The meeting closed on a promising note, with both parties expressing optimism about the potential impact of strengthened collaboration. With shared objectives in enhancing resource utilization and institutional productivity, the engagement between RMRDC and NPC is expected to contribute meaningfully to Osun State’s industrial and economic advancement.
