The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has organized a two-day capacity-building workshop aimed at enhancing the technical writing and communication skills of its staff. The training, themed “Developing Essential Technical Writing and Communication Skills,” was held from October 21 to 22, 2025, at the Council’s Headquarters in Abuja.
The workshop was designed to strengthen effective communication within the workplace and improve the sharing of technical knowledge with external stakeholders, in line with the Council’s mandate to promote sustainable development of Nigeria’s raw materials sector.
Declaring the training open, the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of RMRDC, Professor Nnanyelugo M. Ike-Muonso, represented by the Dean of the RMRDC Training School, Dr. I. C. Olife, urged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity to improve their communication and documentation skills.

According to him, the primary goal of the workshop was to build participants’ capacity to convey technical information clearly, accurately, and effectively. He emphasized that the training would equip staff with practical knowledge in technical documentation, audience-focused communication, and the integration of modern communication tools and strategies in their daily work.
Dr. Olife noted that subject matter experts were engaged to mentor participants on essential principles of technical writing and communication relevant to the Council’s mission of promoting local raw materials development. She added that the training aligns with the Director-General’s commitment to strengthening the Council’s human resource base for improved performance and service delivery.
Throughout the sessions, participants were actively engaged in group exercises, discussions, and presentations facilitated by the resource persons. Their enthusiasm and teamwork during the practical activities demonstrated the effectiveness of the training.
A total of 90 participants took part in the workshop, which concluded with the presentation of certificates to all attendees.
In her closing remarks, Dr. Olife commended Professor Ike-Muonso and the RMRDC management for their visionary leadership and continued investment in staff development. She also appreciated the facilitators for their expertise and encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained to enhance productivity and efficiency in their respective departments.
