The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) Niger State Office has ignited the entrepreneurial spirit of the students of the Biological Science Department, Niger State College of Education, Minna, who were on an educational visit to the RMRDC Resource Information Centre in Minna.

Addressing over 250 students, the RMRDC Niger State Coordinator, Mr. Yakubu Mohammed encouraged the students to embrace entrepreneurship through value addition, highlighting the importance of leveraging Nigeria’s abundant raw materials.

He stated that entrepreneurship is important as it is the future of Nigeria’s economy. He said with the rich natural resources endowment in the State, young people can build sustainable businesses by transferring raw materials into high-quality products. He urged the students to consider industries such as food processing, cosmetics, textiles, and bio-products as viable business ventures.
Mr. Yakubu challenged the students to utilize the knowledge gained at the center and share their insights with peers to foster a culture of innovation.
He pointed out that the RMRDC Resource Information Centre in the State showcases a wide array of Nigeria’s agro and mineral raw materials, emphasizing the nation’s wealth in natural resources.
A Senior Scientific Officer in the State Coordinating Office, Mr. Sadeeq Abubakar, and other staff guided the visiting students through the center, explaining RMRDC’s mandate to optimize the use of the nation’s raw materials.

They encouraged the students to expand their knowledge beyond the pursuit of traditional white-collar jobs, emphasizing the potential for innovation and entrepreneurship in the raw materials sector.
