During the visit, the Training and Production Development Manager of Nigeria Machine Tools, Engr. Alexander Igweze delivered a comprehensive briefing on the company’s operations, structure, and contributions to the Nigerian manufacturing sector. He highlighted Nigeria Machine Tools’ notable milestones, including the ballistic vest and helmet production line, licensed by the Office of the National Security Adviser.

Engr. Igweze emphasized the importance of technology development in driving innovation and competitiveness in the manufacturing sector. He noted that Nigeria Machine Tools has invested heavily in specialized facilities, including a Thread Rolling Plant, Hot-Dip Galvanizing Plant, and Coating and Surface Treatment Plant. These facilities enable the company to produce high-quality products that meet international standards.

However, Engr. Igweze also highlighted the challenges faced by Nigeria Machine Tools, including sourcing raw materials, which remains one of the company’s biggest challenges. He explained that only a limited portion of their raw materials are available locally, while many specialized inputs still must be imported, which significantly increases their cost of production.
