The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) Osun State Coordinating Office, led by State Coordinator Mr. Adeyemi Saheed, paid a technical visit to Nigeria Machine Tools Limited in Osogbo, Osun State. The visit aimed to gain practical insight into Nigeria Machine Tools’ manufacturing operations, product lines, production capacities, and raw material inputs.
During the visit, the Training and Production Development Manager of Nigeria Machine Tools, Engr. Alexander Igweze delivered a comprehensive briefing on the company’s operations, structure, and contributions to the Nigerian manufacturing sector. He highlighted Nigeria Machine Tools’ notable milestones, including the ballistic vest and helmet production line, licensed by the Office of the National Security Adviser.
Engr. Igweze emphasized the importance of technology development in driving innovation and competitiveness in the manufacturing sector. He noted that Nigeria Machine Tools has invested heavily in specialized facilities, including a Thread Rolling Plant, Hot-Dip Galvanizing Plant, and Coating and Surface Treatment Plant. These facilities enable the company to produce high-quality products that meet international standards.

However, Engr. Igweze also highlighted the challenges faced by Nigeria Machine Tools, including sourcing raw materials, which remains one of the company’s biggest challenges. He explained that only a limited portion of their raw materials are available locally, while many specialized inputs still must be imported, which significantly increases their cost of production.
The RMRDC Osun state Coordinator Mr. Adeyemi Saheed, briefed the organisation on the mandate of the Council, which aligns with the company’s goals and objectives. He emphasized that the Director-General of RMRDC, Prof. Nnanyelugo,Martin Ike-Muonso has given a directive to revive industries and work on industrial growth in the state.
“The Council’s mandate is to promote industrial growth, value addition, and indigenous technology development,” Mr. Adeyemi said. “We are committed to working with Nigeria Machine Tools to address their challenges and promote industrial growth in Osun State. The directive of the Director-General is to revive industries and work on industrial growth, and we believe that this partnership will go a long way in achieving this goal.”
Mr. Adeyemi assured the company that RMRDC would document and report their challenges to the headquarters for necessary follow-up and support. He emphasized that RMRDC would work with Nigeria Machine Tools to identify local sources of raw materials and develop strategies to reduce dependence on imported materials.

The visit culminated in a guided tour of Nigeria Machine Tools’ expansive production facilities, where the RMRDC team gained firsthand understanding of the company’s operations and strategic capacity. The partnership between RMRDC and Nigeria Machine Tools is expected to promote industrial growth, value addition, and indigenous technology development in Osun State and beyond.
