In a strategic effort to strengthen institutional performance and promote a culture of productivity in the public sector, the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Oyo State Coordinating Office, in collaboration with the National Productivity Centre (NPC), organized a training programme for RMRDC staff on March 9, 2026. The training, held at the Federal Secretariat Complex, Ikolaba, Ibadan, was designed to build a public sector of excellence through improved productivity and efficient service delivery.
The training brought together staff of the Council under the State Industrial Extension Service Department (SIESD), Southern Coordination Office, with a focus on enhancing their capacity in productivity improvement techniques.
Participants were exposed to modern productivity tools, global best practices, and strategies for effective resource utilization in project implementation. The initiative also aimed at improving staff performance and fostering stronger collaboration between RMRDC and NPC in advancing national development goals.
During the sessions, facilitators introduced key concepts such as the Kaizen principle, performance management systems, and effective results utilization. These discussions emphasized continuous improvement, efficiency in operations, and alignment of institutional activities with Nigeria’s economic development priorities.
Participants actively engaged in the sessions, gaining practical insights into how productivity tools can be applied in raw materials development programmes.
The training recorded significant achievements, including increased awareness of productivity measurement and management, enhanced knowledge of modern techniques, and strengthened institutional collaboration between RMRDC and NPC. Some participants stated that the training has boosted their motivation and reinforced commitment in them to achieving organizational goals through improved service delivery.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment from both organizations to sustain capacity-building initiatives that will support the efficient implementation of RMRDC programmes and projects. The successful training underscores the importance of inter-agency collaboration in driving productivity, strengthening public sector performance, and advancing the sustainable development of Nigeria’s raw materials sector.
