The Director-General of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso has called on staff to fully embrace the Performance Management System (PMS) as part of efforts to reposition and rebrand the council for greater efficiency.
Speaking during the PMS training at the council’s headquarters in Abuja, Prof. Nnanyelugo emphasized that the PMS is a crucial tool for enhancing productivity, ensuring accountability, and aligning the council’s operations with national development goals. He noted that adopting the system would foster a more results-driven culture within RMRDC, ensuring that staff embrace discipline to achieve the Council’s full potential.
He urged staff members to be a watering can that waters plants and causes it to bring forth fruits so that people will eat it, therefore should see the PMS as an opportunity for personal development and a new hope for the council, rather than a mere bureaucratic exercise.

According to him, the initiative will not only build a new RMRDC but also make staff members stars by assessing their performance and reward hard-work and productivity.
In response, senior staff members at the training applauded the DG while also welcoming the initiative, acknowledging the importance of efficiency and accountability in driving the council’s mandate of promoting local raw material development.
Prof. Nnanyelugo pleaded with staff to actively participate in the implementation process, ensuring that RMRDC emerges as a model institution in research and development. He also explained that staff noncompliance to the initiative will not be tolerated as sanctions will be issued appropriately.
