The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Rivers State Coordinating Office, recently held a one-day training session on the practical application of the Performance Management System (PMS). The session, which marked the second phase of the PMS training, took place at the Rivers State Secretariat Complex in Port Harcourt and was aimed at ensuring the seamless operation of the PMS platform by staff, while enhancing effective service delivery.
The training was facilitated by a Senior Technical Officer, Mr. Christopher Ejiogu, who emphasized that the Performance Management System is designed to promote automation, transparency, and accountability across the Council. He noted that understanding and aligning with one’s Key Result Areas (KRAs) is essential for successful implementation.
Mr. Ejiogu outlined five strategic goals of the Council, explaining each in detail. He then conducted a step-by-step practical demonstration of how these goals can be accessed and tracked on the PMS platform. This was followed by an interactive discussion on Key Result Areas and the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) objectives within the PMS framework, helping participants understand how their individual roles align with the broader institutional mission.
A major highlight of the training was the detailed analysis of the Task Manager feature, which demonstrated how tasks are created, assigned, monitored, and responded to within the system.

Speaking at the event, the Rivers State Coordinator, Mr. Minzor-Ezekiel K., expressed deep appreciation to the Director-General of RMRDC, Professor Nnanyelugo Martin Ike-Muonso, for his leadership and vision in prioritizing innovation across the Council. He described the PMS as a transformative tool that would significantly enhance the office’s capacity to fulfil its mandate efficiently.
“I wish to applaud the many strategic initiatives of the Council that have driven innovation in Rivers State. The impact of this training will be seen not just in our processes, but in the quality of service delivered to stakeholders across the state,” Mr. Minzor-Ezekiel stated.
He also extended his gratitude to Mr. Ejiogu for his dedication and expertise, noting that staff members left the session better equipped and highly motivated to contribute meaningfully to the Council’s mandate.
Participants expressed deep appreciation for the knowledge gained during the session and pledged to put in their best to position the Council for greater achievements.
