The Coalition Network of Stakeholders in Agricultural Mechanization (CONESAM), in partnership with Research and Innovation Systems for Africa – Knowledge Exchange and Cascaded Commercialization (RISA-KECC), on Saturday, the 20th of July, 2024 in Lagos, hosted stakeholders in a two-day capacity-building workshop focused on private sector engagement strategies and revenue generation potentials for Research Institutions.
The seminar was aimed at strengthening the capacities of research institutes by reviewing opportunities for income generation and exploring private sector engagement and business development models, such as public-private partnerships (PPP).
The National Team Lead RISA-KECC Dr. Terseer Nyalaku, emphasized the importance of a participatory technology development system for knowledge exchange, which would facilitate distributed manufacturing (mass production) of necessary technologies for the agricultural mechanization ecosystem.
Highlighting the role of additive manufacturing, Nyalaku said using the Digital Affiliate Programme model will inspire the involvement of young talents in the field.
The training was considered crucial for advancing the Council’s strategy to enhance its impact on the national economy. Some senior staff from the Lagos Office Directorate were in attendance.
The presentation which was technically supervised by Mr. Marinho, Head, Lagos Office Directorate, was applauded and adjudged as the best presentation out of 5 other presentations, as it met all the evaluation criteria.
As a result, RMRDC was requested to submit a concept note detailing the project cost of production, value proposition, market analysis, demand, and revenue projections.
