In a bold move to entrench a culture of performance and transparency, the Ondo State Coordinating Office of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has successfully conducted a Hands-On Training on the Performance Management System (PMS) on 31st of July 2025.
Held at the State Office in Akure, the one-day training is part of a Council-wide effort to institutionalize a performance-driven approach across all levels of operation.
The session, conducted on the directive of the Director-General, Professor Nnanyelugo M. Ike-Muonso, was facilitated by a principal Scientific Officer and a PMS Staff, Mr. Suleiman Abu Ciroma, from the Headquarters in Abuja.
It represents a key phase in the Council’s nationwide implementation of PMS, a digital framework aimed at aligning individual staff performance with organizational goals, improving productivity, and ensuring data-driven decision-making in line with best practices in public service delivery.
Speaking at the training, the Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Tejumola F.A commended the leadership of the Director-General for driving the Council’s ongoing digital transformation.
Describing the PMS as “timely and strategic,” she emphasized the initiative’s potential will link staff performance directly with career progression and institutional success. Staff were urged to take the training seriously, as its impact would extend to future evaluations and professional growth.
During the training session, Mr. Abu Suleiman Ciroma delivered a comprehensive and insightful presentation on the structure and benefits of the PMS framework. His presentation provided participants with a thorough understanding of the system’s essential components, including Strategic Goals that align individual tasks with long-term institutional targets, Key Result Areas (KRAs) that focus on priority functions and key deliverables, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) designed to measure results and effectiveness.
The session also emphasized the importance of SMART Goal setting, ensuring that all objectives are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.
The hands-on session featured in-depth demonstrations of the PMS interface, dashboard navigation, and task management tools. Participants engaged with modules such as the Task Manager and real-time performance tracking systems, gaining practical insights into daily usage, self-assessment procedures, and supervisory feedback mechanisms. Interactive discussions and real-time demonstrations enabled participants to gain clarity on performance documentation, appraisal processes, and personal accountability in driving institutional objectives.
The session witnessed high levels of engagement, with participants actively interacting with the facilitator and raising pertinent technical and administrative questions. These were thoroughly addressed, reinforcing readiness for full-scale adoption of the PMS at the state level.
In her closing remarks, the Coordinator Mrs. Tejumola expressed profound appreciation to Prof. Ike-Muonso for his continued investment in human capital and digital innovation. She also lauded Mr. Abu Ciroma for his clarity and professionalism, reiterating the Ondo State Office’s unwavering commitment to the successful rollout of the PMS in line with the Council’s broader reform agenda.
The training marks a major milestone in RMRDC’s strategic transition toward a performance-based administrative culture, one expected to foster accountability, boost productivity, and entrench a results-oriented work ethic across its operational system.
