In a bold step toward promoting healthier skincare practices and supporting local cosmetic industries, the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) Kebbi State Coordinating Office has flagged off a free skin analysis outreach at the Aliero Local Government Secretariat Complex.
The event, held in collaboration with the Tropics Derma Research Institute (TDRTI), was officially launched by the Kebbi State Coordinator of RMRDC Mr. Saidu Abdulkadir alongside the Executive Chairman of Aliero LGA, Hon. Abubakar Haruna.
This initiative is part of a national campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of harmful skin products and to educate the public on the benefits of natural skincare using locally sourced ingredients. The program offers free professional skin assessments designed to highlight the unique needs of melanated skin, particularly in tropical environments like Kebbi.

Speaking during the launch, Hon. Abubakar Haruna commended the Council for choosing Aliero as a starting point for the project in Kebbi State. He emphasized the importance of educating communities about safe skincare, especially at the grassroots level where access to accurate information is limited.
The State Coordinator of RMRDC highlighted that the project not only empowers individuals with knowledge about their skin health but also contributes to vital data collection that will guide the development of effective, Nigeria-made cosmetic products.
TDRTI representatives underscored the program’s long-term vision: to revolutionize skincare across Africa by prioritizing products made from indigenous raw materials. They stressed that many imported cosmetic products are not suited for tropical skin types and often cause more harm than good.
