In a strategic move to galvanize industrial growth through targeted investments in raw materials, the Anambra State office of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has initiated high-level stakeholder engagements ahead of the upcoming Anambra Investment Forum.
The forum, scheduled for June 26, 2025, is themed “Strengthening Investment Opportunities Along the Bamboo Value Chain for Sustainable and Industrial Development.” It is part of a broader vision championed by RMRDC Director General, Prof. Nnanyelugo Martins Ike-Muonso, to promote state-level industrialization by leveraging agro and mineral raw materials where each state holds comparative advantage.
To advance preparations, the Anambra State Coordinator of RMRDC, Dr. Uche Arinze-Nwosu, led a delegation on a strategic visit to the Sahelian Institute for Bamboo Research and Entrepreneurship Development (SIBRED) at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka.
During the visit, Dr. Arinze-Nwosu and her team engaged in detailed discussions with SIBRED Director, Dr. John Ogbodo, and members of his management team. The meeting focused on collaborative roles SIBRED could play in the forum, particularly in showcasing cutting-edge research and industrial applications in the bamboo sector.

“SIBRED UNIZIK is a vital collaborating institute for us in Anambra State, especially in areas concerning bamboo research and industrial development,” Dr. Arinze-Nwosu stated. “The expertise you have will be invaluable in attracting investors and supporting sustainable growth in this sector.”
The upcoming forum is expected to bring together a diverse group of stakeholders — including investors, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and researchers — to explore the full spectrum of opportunities in the bamboo value chain. Key features of the event will include exhibitions, technical sessions, and expert presentations, covering bamboo applications in construction, furniture, textiles, energy, and more.
Both RMRDC and SIBRED reaffirmed their commitment to the success of the forum, emphasizing its potential to spur the establishment of bamboo-based industries, create jobs, and enhance environmental sustainability in Anambra State.
As momentum builds toward the June 26 event, stakeholders remain optimistic about the transformative impact the forum could have on the state’s economic and industrial landscape.
