The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Imo State office has launched a pivotal initiative aimed at harnessing the innovative potentials of Indigenous Entrepreneurs at the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) Owerri. This initiative, which is the Council’s strategy to boost local content development and industrialization, focuses on providing support and resources to homegrown businesses.

Mr D.Enemuo, the Imo state coordinator, made this known when he led a team of staff to embark on a strategic working visit to the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) in Owerri, Imo State. Mr. Enemuo emphasized the importance of leveraging local talent and resources to drive economic growth and reduce dependency on imported raw materials.
He said the Council is geared towards fostering innovative capacities of Indigenous Entrepreneurs through the stimulation of local economic growth by enhancing product development processes to meet global market standards.
He urged entrepreneurs at TIC to explore innovative avenues in commodity processing that align with international standards.
This collaboration signifies an immense opportunity for both organizations as we endeavour to maximize our indigenous resources, underscoring the commitment of the Director-General/CEO, Prof. Nnanyelugo M. Ike-Muonso, towards fostering sustainable economic growth through innovation.

In her speech, Dr. Gift Nnenna Eze, Centre Manager of TIC, welcomed this partnership and expressed excitement about the opportunity provided by RMRDC. She articulated the potential benefits it holds for local entrepreneurs. She highlighted plans to provide empowerment and seed capital opportunities while emphasizing achievements and training programs aimed at nurturing young talent within Imo State.
The Centre’s impressive achievements include securing MANCAP and NAFDAC certifications for KENMALVIN NIGERIA LIMITED’s anti-rash baby powder—a testament to its capacity for supporting local businesses. As the partnership between RMRDC and TIC unfolds, it promises not only to invigorate Imo State’s entrepreneurial landscape but also to pave the way for sustainable growth and technological advancements that benefit both local businesses and the community at large. The initiative exemplifies a modern approach to economic development—rooted in collaboration and innovation.

The visit ended with a tour of the TIC facilities where entrepreneurs showcased their innovative products spanning mentholated dusting powder to eco-friendly personal care items. This hands-on demonstration highlighted the breadth of local ingenuity and resource utilization efforts.
