The experts spoke on the importance of transitioning to a net zero economy which involves balancing the amount of greenhouse gases emitted with the amount removed from the atmosphere.
The RMRDC team led by Tukur Mahmud Mustafa, who represented the Gombe State coordinator, Mr. Abubakar Usman Gadam participated in the discussions and networked with global experts exploring opportunities for partnership and knowledge exchange. These connections are expected to pave the way for future collaborations, particularly in areas such as renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and waste management.
While presenting his remarks, Mr. Tukur Mahmud highlighted some of the Council’s programs that align with the purpose of the workshop, especially regarding Gombe state, like the collaboration with ELB engineering in the development of Briquette and mass production of coke as a substitute for energy which if successful will eliminate deforestation.
“Climate change poses significant threats to our raw materials, from Agricultural produce to solid minerals. This workshop has provided us with valuable insights and innovation solutions to address these challenges”, he noted.
He observed that the workshop was impactful and marked a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to contribute to sustainable environmental development in the State.
