The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), through its Kaduna State Coordinating Office, joined key stakeholders at a one-day capacity-building workshop titled Improving Exporter Information Management System to Enhance Export Earnings. The event, held to address challenges in Nigeria’s export sector, emphasized digitization, data-driven strategies, and stakeholder collaboration to boost global trade competitiveness.

Delivering the keynote address, the RMRDC Kaduna State Coordinator, Mr. S.J. Mutallab, underscored the Council’s pivotal role in strengthening Nigeria’s export value chain. He urged exporters, policymakers, and industry leaders to partner with RMRDC in advancing value-added processing of raw materials. “Effective utilization of raw materials is critical to enhancing product competitiveness and sustainability in international markets”, Mutallab stated. He further encouraged stakeholders to leverage the RMRDC website to explore data on untapped raw material resources in Kaduna State, a region with vast industrial potential.

Mutallab extended an invitation to the Africa Raw Materials Summit, scheduled for May 20th –22nd, 2025, in Abuja, positioning it as a platform for innovation and continental collaboration. The summit aims to unite exporters, researchers, and industrialists to drive Africa’s industrialization agenda through resource optimization and strategic partnerships.

Discussions at the workshop centered on modernizing export processes through digitized information systems. Experts highlighted the need for robust data management to streamline regulatory compliance, improve decision-making, and maximize export revenues. Stakeholders unanimously agreed that synergy between institutions like RMRDC, government agencies, and the private sector is vital to achieving sustainable trade growth.

The Council reiterated its dedication to advancing Nigeria’s industrial sector through research, policy advocacy, and partnerships. By prioritizing value addition and export diversification, RMRDC aims to solidify Nigeria’s position in global markets while fostering economic resilience.
