The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), in collaboration with the Tropical Derma Research and Training Institute (TDRTI), has embarked on a nationwide skin analysis focused on promoting healthier skincare practices via the use of Nigeria’s local raw materials in the production of skincare products suitable for skin types in the tropical regions.
This initiative aimed at replacing harmful bleaching products with safe, natural, and affordable alternatives derived from Nigeria’s rich bounty of local raw materials. In a bid to achieve this, a 10-day free skin analysis was launched across all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
Akwa Ibom State Coordinating Office of RMRDC actively participated in this laudable exercise. Led by Mrs. Janet Essien, the exercise took place at Aka offot in Uyo L.G.A. of Akwa Ibom State. and was carried out in markets, schools, State Secretariat etc. The event experienced massive turnout of participants.
Participants applauded RMRDC and TDRTI for the initiative and commended the seamless process of the skin examination. Adding that the program has given them the understanding of the danger some chemical products poses on the skin and the urgent need to stop such practices.
The exercise recorded huge success in Akwa-Ibom state, participants all left with the awareness of their skin conditions and practical way to care and improve on their skins.
