The Osun State Coordinating Office of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) joined other key stakeholders, development agencies, and financial institutions at the ANWBN Southwest One-Day Business Clinic held on 14th May, 2026, at the SMEDAN Nigeria Office, Oke-Fia, Osogbo, to promote women entrepreneurship, business sustainability, and economic empowerment.
Leading the team is a Senior Scientific Officer, Mrs. Komolafe Oluwatoyin Deborah, who represented the Osun State Coordinator, Mr. Adeyemi Saheed A delivered a remark, where she emphasized that empowering women entrepreneurs remains vital to Nigeria’s industrial and economic development. He noted that women-owned businesses play significant roles in local production, value addition, employment generation, and grassroots industrialization, stressing that RMRDC remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote the utilization of locally available raw materials for sustainable economic growth.

The event, organized by the Association of Nigerian Women Business Network (ANWBN), attracted participants from government agencies, financial institutions, and women-led enterprises across Osun State. Notable personalities at the programme included Mrs. Funmilayo Aromogun, Osun State Coordinator of ANWBN; Mrs. Bosede Titilope Nwachi, Osun State Representative of ANWBN and Founder of Akikanju Empowerment Initiative; Dr. Samuel Adebola, Osun State Coordinator of SMEDAN; Mrs. Oluwatoyin Famuro, Osun State Head of the Bank of Industry; and Mrs. Fatimah Abolude of Wema Bank.
During the clinic, discussions focused on financial literacy, business formalization through Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration, savings culture, bookkeeping, mentorship, and access to grants and low-interest loans for women entrepreneurs. Participants were also enlightened on funding opportunities under the Bank of Industry’s GLOW initiative and Wema Bank’s SARA initiative, both designed to support women-owned businesses through capacity building, financing, and healthcare support services.

Mrs. Komolafe, while interacting with participants, highlighted the mandate of RMRDC in promoting local content development and encouraging value addition to Nigeria’s abundant raw material resources. She further urged entrepreneurs to embrace innovation, proper record-keeping, and sustainable business practices to enhance competitiveness and business expansion.
A practical session on digital bookkeeping using the Bumpa application was also conducted to educate participants on modern methods of managing sales and business records efficiently. The programme concluded with the creation of a WhatsApp support platform aimed at keeping participants informed on business opportunities, grants, mentorship programmes, and funding updates.
