The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) Director General, Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, has said that the Director, Technology Development Department (TDD), Engr. Emmanuel Kwaya will leave an incredible legacy on the Council, praising his numerous impacts on its growth.

Engr. Kwaya retired on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, coinciding with his birthday. This day held even greater significance for him as he also remarried, marking a new chapter in his personal life following the passing of his wife last year.
The DG extolled Engr. Kwaya for his exceptional leadership, unwavering commitment, and invaluable contributions to RMRDC, describing him as irreplaceable during an emotional farewell.
He noted that Engr. Kwaya would be leaving behind a remarkable legacy at RMRDC, as a renowned expertise in fabrication and engineering innovation. His technical prowess, particularly in fabrication, has been instrumental to the success of many of the Council’s projects.
“I met Engr. Kwaya on the 19th May 2024 and the thing that caught my attention was the way he explained fabrication. He has a profound knowledge of fabrication and he is a forthright person”, the DG stated
The DG observed that his commitment to advancing research and development within the Council earned him widespread respect among colleagues and industry professionals.

Throughout his tenure, Engr. Kwaya played a pivotal role in the council’s operations, even briefly serving as the Acting Director-General of RMRDC. His vast knowledge and experience in engineering contributed significantly to the organization’s mission of promoting the development and utilization of raw materials in Nigeria.
Beyond his professional achievements, Engr. Kwaya is known as a man of integrity, kindness, and unwavering commitment to excellence. His ability to mentor and inspire younger engineers has left a lasting impact on the institution and beyond.
As Engr. Kwaya embarks on this new journey, both in retirement and marriage: families, colleagues, friends, and well-wishers extended their warmest goodwill, expressing gratitude for his years of service and best wishes for his future endeavours.
Earlier the event commenced with a wedding session at the EYN Church of the Brethren in Utako Abuja, where Engr. Emmanuel Kwaya was joined in a holy matrimony to Ms. Esther Madu Makiwa , after which guests were treated to an amazing reception at Council’s event hall in Maitama Abuja.
The event attracted dignitaries, families, colleagues and friends who gathered to felicitate with the celebrant in their bundle of joyous celebration.
Presenting his closing remarks, Engr. Kwaya thanked everyone who came to facilitate with him and his family, from the church service at EYN church Utako to the reception venue. He appreciated all the encomium poured on him. He ascribed his moral uprightness to the virtues his father taught him and which he had upheld throughout his life.
He expressed joy in retiring with his head high without controversies or negativity attached to his name.

He therefore urged the staff he is leaving behind to put in their best to make RMRDC a better place and maintain moral uprightness.
