The Director General of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Professor Nnanyelugo Martin Ike-Muonso has called on tertiary institutions in Nigeria to develop a curriculum for the study of raw materials economics at postgraduate levels as a strategy to further develop critical manpower and build capacity of players in the raw materials development sector. The DG stated this when he hosted members of staff of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, Niger State led by the University’s Vice Chancellor Professor Abu Kasim Adamu who were on a courtesy call to the RMRDC Headquarters in Abuja.

Prof. Ike-Muonso emphasized that for Nigeria to take its rightful position and play a leading role in the global raw materials market, there was a need to develop critical manpower that will begin to explore huge opportunities in global economics of raw materials development and utilisation.
Earlier, the University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abu Kasim Adamu while felicitating with the Director General on his recent appointment also thanked RMRDC for choosing the Institution as one of the beneficiaries of its numerous laudable projects. He stated that the Cashew Nut Shell Processing Plant which was designed and installed by RMRDC is still operational in the University’s industrial park and that cashew nuts are also being processed. The VC presented samples of the products from the project to the Director General.
The RMRDC Boss while expressing delight at the products from the Cashew Project commended the management of IBBU for their commitment in ensuring that the Council’s projects domiciled in the University were doing well. He assured the Vice Chancellor and his team of Council’s continued collaboration with the University.
