The Pesticidal Plant Society (PPS) of Nigeria has announced its plans to strategically partner with the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) towards building the capacity of staff. This was made known when a team led by Prof. Samuel Anjorin of the University of Abuja visited the Council recently.

Prof. Anjorin who represented the President of the society, Dr. Simeon Okweche, and was received by the Director General, RMRDC, Prof. Nnanyelugo M. Ike- Muonso, said the collaboration is expected to foster innovation and enhance the skills and knowledge of staff in Pesticidal plant research and development.
Speaking further, Prof. Anjorin said the society will be having her Conference in the Council soon, and he is glad that based on the agreement reached with the DG, 100 staff will be registered as members of the society all fees paid, hence building their capacity.
He stated that the event will equip staff with the latest techniques and advancements in Pesticide plant science and observed that these efforts are anticipated to boost the Council’s ability to develop and promote sustainable, plant-based control solutions.
Earlier, Prof. Nnanyelugo said his administration is geared towards maintaining cooperation with its stakeholders, saying that the council would gladly get into partnerships that will benefit the council rather than a parasitic one. He said any organization with something to offer to the Council is welcome as the Council is open to such collaborations. He pledged to offer the Council’s Hall facility to host the society’s forthcoming Conference as well as free buses to convey participants during the Conference.
The Deputy Director, Raw Materials Quality Assurance Division (RMQAD), Dr. Obiageli Okafor, who is the lead member of the society from RMRDC, expressed her appreciation to the DG and made a presentation on behalf of the society to the DG to officially welcome him to his new position.
