According to the DG, RMRDC is one of the organizations that have the courage to surrender books for evaluation, “apart from excellence in innovation, we also have excellence in our quality management.”

Prof. Ike-Muonso, commended staff and management for their active participation and dedication throughout the process, noting that the ISO 9001:2015 certification represents not just a benchmark, but a continuous journey of improvement.

“Achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification is a testament to RMRDC’s culture of excellence, accountability, and innovation. It reflects our readiness to meet the highest global standards in service delivery, research, and development,” DG stated.

The external audit plan for ISO 9001:2015 certification for RMRDC, organized by IAS Accredited Management System Certification Body report recommended RMRDC for ISO 9001 initial certification, acknowledging the Council’s progress and compliance with the quality management framework. The report noted that here were no Major or Minor Nonconformities (MaNCs) recorded for the Council.

This achievement demonstrates RMRDC’s top management commitment to excellence and quality-driven service delivery in line with international best practices.

The Lead External Auditor appreciated management supports for the entire ISO 9001: 2015 QMS exercise and assured the DG of recommendations for the ISO 9001 initial Certification of RMRDC.

The comprehensive audit report assessed the Council’s conformity with international standards, focusing on quality management practices, procedural documentation, and system efficiency. It also served as a platform for identifying areas of improvement while reinforcing RMRDC’s long-standing reputation for professionalism, transparency, and innovation.

In preparation for the audit, RMRDC undertook an intensive sensitization programme involving directors and departmental heads to deepen their understanding of the QMS framework. Departments were guided to align their operations with standard operating procedures (SOPs) that reflect global best practices in quality assurance and organizational performance.

The Council embarked on the Implementation Phase toward ISO 9001:2015 certification, as part of its commitment to institutional efficiency, quality improvement and service excellence. The process was anchored on strengthening internal systems, documenting standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensuring all Departments, Divisions and Units align with the Quality Management System (QMS) standards.

As RMRDC advances toward certification, the Council reaffirms its dedication to promoting Nigeria’s industrial development through efficient research, innovative policy implementation, and unwavering adherence to international quality standards.
