The Raw Materials Research and Development Council, (RMRDC) is set to collaborate with Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) in the area of entrepreneurial training on local raw materials processing and utilization.

The Director General, RMRDC, Prof. Nnayelugo M. Ike-Muonso represented by the RMRDC Akwa Ibom state coordinator, Mr Akpan, Anietie made this commitment during a working visit to TIC in Uyo recently.
He said that he was impressed with the growth and achievements of the Centre over the years, stating that most of TIC’s activities are in line with the focus of the Council particularly in the areas of the development of indigenous process technologies, fabrication of indigenous process equipment and in the area of value addition to local raw materials. He added, “One of the major goals of the Council is to ensure availability and sustainability of six critical raw materials annually which include: Lithium, Bitumen, Essential oil, SPO, Fish oil and HQCF by 10% and in the process, reduce the volume of importation of three agricultural and two mineral raw materials by 10% each within three years.”
He however urged the entrepreneurs within the centre to explore on these six raw materials while promising to ensure that all necessary assistance in terms of funding and information on raw materials sourcing and utilization will be made available to the Centre.




Earlier, the Centre Manager Mrs Iniobong Elshaddai noted that the National Technology Incubation Programme (TIP) is a veritable Institute Mechanism for commercialization of research and development (R&D) results and It seeks to effectively link talent, technology, capital and know-how to leverage entrepreneurial talents in order to accelerate development of new companies and speedy commercialization of R&D and innovation.
“The Centre is vested with the mission of developing the necessary infrastructure, to nurture technology start-up to promote Nigeria’s indigenous potentials through value-added and technology-related activities and to create enabling environment for effective linkage amongst technology providers, entrepreneurs, and capital”, she said.

While speaking on the products of the centre, she said that most of the products are majorly the results from the research which has added value to locally available agro raw materials in various ways. she expressed her gratitude for the RMRDC especially the DG, Prof. Nnanyelugo for ensuring that RMRDC delivers on its mandate.
