A delegation from the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) Bauchi Coordinating Office, led by State Coordinator Mr. Turaki Wambai, recently conducted an insightful industrial visit to Sahelian Granite LTD. The visit aimed to understand the company’s operations, identify potential areas for collaboration, and explore resource utilization and product development.
The RMRDC team was warmly received by Mr. Abubakar Saleh Toro, a senior member of Sahelian Granite LTD, who provided a comprehensive tour of the facility. The delegation observed the meticulous process of granite extraction, cutting, shaping, and polishing, noting the company’s commitment to rigorous quality control measures, including inspections for color consistency, textural integrity, and overall durability.

Sahelian Granite LTD produces a diverse range of granite products, including large slabs for countertops and flooring, uniformly sized tiles for various coverings, and granite monuments for construction and memorial purposes. The company also showcased its venture into gypsum processing, yielding Plaster of Paris for construction and artistic applications.
A significant outcome of the visit was Mr. Saleh’s request for RMRDC’s assistance in testing a substantial amount of clay obtained as a byproduct of gypsum processing. This initiative aims to determine the clay’s potential for producing other value-added products.
Mr. Turaki Wambai expressed his appreciation, stating, “We acknowledge the significant contributions of Sahelian Granite LTD to the local economy and the potential for further growth and diversification”. He assured Mr. Saleh that the request for clay testing would be promptly forwarded to RMRDC Headquarters, emphasizing the Council’s commitment “to support local industries in maximizing the utilization of their resources and exploring opportunities for product diversification”. The RMRDC office will follow up and communicate the next steps to Sahelian Granite LTD.
