To foster a more informed workforce regarding healthcare benefits, Zuma Health Trust Limited delivered a comprehensive sensitization session to the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) staff on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025. Held at the RMRDC auditorium at its headquarters in Abuja, the session aimed to illuminate the intricacies of healthcare services offered by Zuma and outline the most effective ways for employees to access them.
In his presentation, the head of operations at Zuma Health Trust, Mr. IK Chukwueze delved into crucial aspects of Nigeria’s health insurance landscape, providing much-needed clarity on the distinctions between the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and the more recently established National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA). This differentiation is vital for enrollees to understand the current regulatory framework governing health insurance in the country.
Mr. Chukwueze meticulously explained the operational mechanics of the Zuma Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), detailing how the scheme functions to provide healthcare access. He elaborated on the various healthcare packages available to staff, outlining the specific benefits enrollees are entitled to, from routine check-ups to specialized treatments. Equally important, he clearly delineated the exclusions within the scheme, ensuring that staff are fully aware of what is and isn’t covered, thereby preventing potential misunderstandings.

Throughout his address, Mr. Chukwueze underscored the importance of being enrolled with a reputable HMO. He highlighted how such enrollment provides a structured and financially secure pathway to quality healthcare, mitigating the burden of out-of-pocket expenses and promoting proactive health management. The session also featured a segment where staff were encouraged to voice their questions and share any past negative experiences encountered while accessing healthcare. He also assured them that all complaints would be thoroughly investigated and resolved, demonstrating Zuma Health Trust’s commitment to continuous improvement and enrollee satisfaction.
Furthermore, Mr. Chukwueze provided practical advice to the RMRDC personnel. He urged them to ensure they possessed the correct and up-to-date contact information for Zuma HMO. He particularly stressed the importance of immediately contacting the HMO in instances where they experience delays or challenges in receiving services at accredited hospitals. This proactive communication, he explained, allows the HMO to intervene swiftly and ensure prompt and appropriate care is delivered.
The sensitization program concluded with a profound sense of enhanced understanding among the RMRDC staff, who now possess a clearer approach for navigating their healthcare benefits through Zuma Health Trust. Such initiatives are crucial in fostering a well-informed workforce capable of maximizing their health insurance provisions effectively.
