Seeking to expand its operations and modernize production, ZAUFA A Business Enterprises has opened talks with the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) Zamfara State Office on enhancing agro-processing capacity in the state.
The engagement followed a recent courtesy visit by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Hajiya Ummuhani Suleiman Mohammad, to the Council’s office at the Malam Yahaya Gusau Federal Secretariat Complex in Gusau.
During the meeting, the women led agribusiness sought RMRDC’s support for modern processing equipment, technical training, and advisory services to help scale up production, improve packaging standards, and expand market reach. The initiative aims to strengthen value addition in Zamfara’s agro-processing sector and boost local employment, particularly for women and youth.
The company specializes in converting locally sourced agricultural produce into chemical free, value added food and beverage products. Its product line includes herbal tea blends, spiced cooking powders, chili mixes, hibiscus-based drinks, and cereals such as kunun gumbà, baked oats, and nutrient-rich blends from soya beans, wheat, groundnuts, and plantain.
Currently, production is carried out manually with basic sealing machines and personal grinders, a situation the CEO said limits output, standardization, and compliance with emerging regulatory standards. She highlighted the urgent need for stainless steel milling machines, improved packaging systems, and stable power supply to meet both National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) requirements and international food safety benchmarks.
Hajiya Ummuhani appealed for RMRDC’s support in providing industrial-grade machinery, technical training, and advisory services. She emphasized that such support would not only increase production capacity but also expand employment opportunities for women and youth, while positioning the company to supply semi-processed raw materials to larger food manufacturers.
In response, Zamfara State RMRDC Coordinator, Mr. Y. M. Hayatu, commended ZAUFA A’s commitment to local raw material utilization, food security, and women empowerment. He assured that the Council would assess the request within its mandate of promoting the sustainable use of Nigeria’s raw materials and supporting enterprises that add value to agricultural outputs.
The meeting ended with both parties expressing optimism for continued collaboration to transform ZAUFA A into a model of agribusiness innovation in Zamfara State and beyond.
