The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Osun State Coordinating Office, recently received students and staff of Christ Leads Schools, Osogbo, on an educational visit to the Raw Materials Resource and Information Centre, as part of efforts to expose young learners to Nigeria’s rich raw material base and its importance to industrial development.
Welcoming the students, the Osun State Coordinator of RMRDC, Mr. Adeyemi Saheed, described the visit as highly relevant to the students’ academic curriculum and aligned with national development goals. He emphasized the importance of early awareness of local raw materials and their role in promoting industrial growth, innovation, and self-reliance in Nigeria.
During the visit, the students were taken on a guided tour of the Resource and Information Centre, where they were introduced to various raw materials grouped according to Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) industrial sectors. The session provided practical insights into how raw materials are sourced, processed, and transformed into finished goods.

An interactive learning session facilitated by staff of RMRDC Mr. Odunukan Babatosin and Mrs. Komolafe O.D. further enriched the experience. The facilitators encouraged students to identify everyday products and trace them back to their raw material origins, helping them better understand the connection between natural resources, manufacturing processes, and national economic development.
The students expressed excitement and appreciation for the hands-on knowledge gained during the visit, noting that the experience broadened their understanding of Nigeria’s raw material potential and its relevance to their future academic and career aspirations.

Also, the teachers who accompanied the students, Mrs. Lanlehin B.A. and Mrs. Omoyeni A.B., commended RMRDC for providing valuable experiential learning opportunities and for effectively guiding the students throughout the educational tour.
