The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Nasarawa State Coordinating Office, has conducted an industrial visit and engagement with Al-Balarebe Nagari Soap Manufacturing Factory, Shabu, Lafia, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote local industrial development and enhance the utilization of by indigenous raw materials.
The visit was led by the State Coordinator, Mr. Alaku A.Yakubu, aimed at assessing the factory’s production capacity, raw material usage, operational challenges, and opportunities for collaboration with the Council.
During the engagement, the RMRDC team took a guided tour of the factory led by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Anniklyn Emmanuel to the key production units: including soap mixing and formulation, molding, packaging, and storage sections. Interactions with technical staff provided insights into production procedures, raw material sourcing, and existing technological gaps.

Mr. Emmanuel identified some challenges the company faces such as included inadequate modern processing and packaging equipment, limited technical expertise in advanced soap formulation, and unstable power supply affecting production continuity
Mr. Alaku emphasized RMRDC’s commitment to supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through technology transfer, linkage to local raw material suppliers, and the introduction of modern small-scale processing equipment. He noted that such engagements align with the Council’s mandate to strengthen local value chains and boost industrial growth in Nasarawa State.
He noted that the assessment revealed opportunities to substitute imported inputs with locally available raw materials such as palm-based oils and other indigenous alternatives, a move expected to reduce production costs and improve sustainability. He also identified areas where technical, advisory, and capacity-building support could be provided to enhance productivity and product quality.
Mr. Emmanuel expressed appreciation for the visit and indicated readiness to collaborate with RMRDC on capacity building, improved formulation techniques, and the adoption of local raw materials.
The visit is expected to strengthen collaboration between RMRDC and local industries, increase awareness of the Council’s support services, and contribute to sustainable industrial development within the state.
