The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) has announced its intention to collaborate with Zang Global Technologies, an indigenous technology firm based in Plateau State. This collaboration aims to enhance the local production of power banks and promote the use of lithium materials in battery manufacturing.
Zang Global Technologies is recognized for its innovative approach to recycling e-waste, specifically laptop batteries, to create sustainable products like power banks. The company plans to broaden its operations by fully engaging in the use of locally sourced lithium materials for lithium battery production.
During a recent visit to Zang Global Technologies, Mr. Polycarp Datugun, a Principal Scientific Officer from the Plateau State Office of RMRDC, articulated the Council’s interest in supporting the company’s initiatives. He highlighted that this collaboration would harness the country’s lithium deposits while simultaneously fostering the growth of local industries.
Mr. Datugun lauded the company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, stressing that these efforts align with national objectives for raw material development and industrial self-reliance. He also assured that the Plateau State Office would relay the company’s initiatives to RMRDC headquarters and encourage other stakeholders and entrepreneurs to consider partnerships with Zang Global Technologies.
In response, the CEO Zang Global Technologies Mr. Zang Luka, expressed gratitude for the Council’s interest. He indicated that his company is prepared to collaborate with RMRDC and other potential investors to increase its production from the current output of 100 power banks per month to 1,000 units. Furthermore, he reiterated the company’s readiness to fully explore lithium battery production.
This collaboration is anticipated to significantly promote local content, create jobs, and advance indigenous technological capabilities within Nigeria’s energy sector.
