The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) Staff have been urged to embrace transparency as they participated in a one-day Staff Audit Exercise tagged “Staff Pay Parade Exercise” in Rivers State. The initiative is in line with the Federal Government’s directive to promote accountability and good governance in the civil service.
The audit exercise, which involved the verification of staff emolument records, was held at the RMRDC Coordinating Office, Rivers State Secretariat Complex, Port Harcourt. It was facilitated by Mrs Lilian Tamuno, Assistant Director, Finance & Budget Department, RMRDC Headquarters, Abuja.
In her address, Mrs Tamuno noted that under the leadership of the Director General of RMRDC, Professor Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso, the Council is taking bold strides to institute reforms and positive changes. According to her, the audit exercise is a clear testament to the Council’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
She further explained that the exercise would enhance operational efficiency, ensure payroll accuracy, and promote compliance with regulatory requirements. Mrs Tamuno emphasised the DG’s zero tolerance for indiscipline, stressing that staff must take the Council’s ongoing reforms and activities seriously, as non-compliance could attract disciplinary measures.
Additionally, she encouraged the staff of the Rivers State Office to join cooperative societies to enjoy the long-term benefits, especially after retirement. She commended the full participation of staff at the exercise and expressed satisfaction that all required documents were duly presented.
In his response, the Rivers State Coordinator, Mr Minzor–Ezekiel Kurotimipa, applauded the Director General for his visionary leadership and landmark achievements, particularly in driving the digital transformation of RMRDC since assuming office. He noted that the Pay Parade Exercise would significantly improve workforce efficiency, transparency, and accountability, thereby taking the Council to greater heights.
Mr Kurotimipa also appreciated Mrs Tamuno for her commitment, guidance, and motherly advice to the staff of the Rivers State Office, praying for God’s blessings and journey mercies as she returned to her destination.
