As the year 2024 ends, staff of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) have poured encomium on the Council’s Director-General, Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso for his transformational leadership style, commitment to staff welfare and outstanding achievements since assuming office as the 6th substantive Director General of the Council.

A cross-section of the staff noted that under his stewardship, RMRDC has witnessed remarkable strides in promoting raw materials development, capacity building, and overall organizational transformation.

Staff lauded Professor Ike-Muonso for his relentless focus on enhancing raw materials research and innovation, a move they say has significantly boosted Nigeria’s drive towards industrialization and self-reliance. His leadership has been pivotal in fostering partnerships with key stakeholders to ensure the sustainable development and utilization of the nation’s abundant natural resources.

One of the key areas where Prof. Ike-Muonso has made a significant impact is in providing capacity-building opportunities for staff.

Through various training programs, workshops, and conferences, staff have been equipped with new skills and knowledge, enabling them to perform their duties more efficiently and effectively.

Staff have also commended Prof. Ike-Muonso for his commitment to their welfare, citing the introduction of robust welfare packages to cushion the effect of the economy at the moment and boost staff productivity.

Furthermore, the Director-General has prioritized creating a conducive working environment, ensuring that staff have access to modern facilities, equipment, and tools necessary for optimal performance.

Staff have expressed their gratitude to Prof. Ike-Muonso for his visionary leadership, dedication, and commitment to their overall well-being.

According to the Chairman of NASU, RMRDC Branch, Comrade Smart Osuoha, “Prof. Ike-Muonso’s appointment as the 6th DG/CEO of RMRDC is like the biblical birth of Moses, who was used as an instrument of liberation, crossing over the Red Sea to the long-awaited Promised Land of a new dawn; where the sweet memories have wiped away the tears of the past, giving high hopes to those who were once despondent in the face of abundance…”

“Now, speaking as a Union Chairman in the Council, I can tell you that we have never had it like this before his appointment.

Knowing that, without industrial harmony, no organization moves forward. Upon his appointment, he made it clear even against the status quo, that he would work closely with both Unions in the Council, and today, the level of industrial harmony in the Council is such that can promote peace and the appropriate integration and inclusiveness. I can categorically state that the Council is better for it already”, he further asserted.

The Union Chairperson of the Academic Staff Union of Research Institute (ASURI), Mrs. Fausta Ogbuefi Chima added, “Modestly put, Prof Nnanyelugo Martins Ike-Muonso, the current Director General of RMRDC is a transformational leader. He has shown that he understands that staff welfare is a major part of a broader effort to create a positive and productive work culture. In short, he does not joke with issues that border on the welfare of the team he is leading”.

“Under his leadership, RMRDC is becoming a model for prioritizing employee well-being and satisfaction”, Comrade Chima stated.

Many staff members who spoke with the Raw Materials 360 Online Newspaper also expressed gratitude to the DG saying, “We are grateful for the opportunities he has provided for us to develop our skills, advance our careers, and prioritize staff welfare.”

Comrade Osuoha urged staff to continuously pray for the DG and for the Council to succeed in all her endeavors.

“Meanwhile, it’s my prayer that God upholds, strengthens, and blesses him with good health and sound mind, including the wisdom he needs to continually improve on his achievements”, he stated.

As the year draws to a close, the staff of RMRDC are once again optimistic about the future, knowing that they have a leader who is committed to their success and the growth of the organization.
