As part of its continued commitment to supporting industries and promoting the use of local raw materials, the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Sokoto State Coordinating Office, paid a technical visit to Sokoto Industrial Material Limited (IML) Milling and Organic Fertiliser Company on 29th April 2026.
The visit was led by the State Coordinator, Mrs. Nadia Bawa Abubakar, and took place at the company’s facility in Dundaye Local Government Area, Sokoto State. The purpose of the visit was to better understand the company’s operations, assess its production capacity, and explore ways RMRDC can support its growth through technical assistance and collaboration.
Sokoto Industrial Material Limited was established in May 2017 and operates in partnership with the Sokoto State Government. The company has an estimated production capacity of 30 tonnes per day and plays an important role in the processing of mineral resources in the state.

The RMRDC team was warmly welcomed by members of the company’s management, including Malam Audu, the Production Manager, and Malam Aliyu Lawal, the Operational Manager. Their hospitality and openness made the visit both productive and engaging.
During the tour, the delegation observed that the company is involved in the milling and processing of important mineral raw materials such as phosphate, limestone, kaolin and marl. In addition, the company also produces organic fertiliser using locally available materials like neem seed, poultry waste, ash powder, and phosphate.
The production Manager, Mr Malam Audu, explained that all the raw materials used by the company are sourced within Sokoto State. He said this not only reduces production costs but also supports local businesses, creates economic opportunities, and encourages the development of homegrown industries.
The visit was highly successful and further strengthened the relationship between RMRDC Sokoto and Sokoto Industrial Material Limited. It also revealed strong opportunities for future collaboration in mineral processing, organic fertiliser production, and industrial development in the state.
The company’s management appreciated the visit and expressed readiness to work closely with RMRDC in areas of mutual interest.
RMRDC remains dedicated to helping industries grow through research, innovation, and partnerships that create jobs, add value to local resources, and contribute to national development.
