The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), through its Kaduna State Coordinating Office, has reiterated its commitment to promoting the use of high-quality raw materials to drive industrial growth and standardization in Nigeria.
This assurance was delivered by the Kaduna State Coordinator of RMRDC, Mr. Mutallab Shehu Jibrin, during the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) Certificate Presentation Ceremony held at the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) Kaduna office.
The event, organized to recognize manufacturers whose products have met the Nigerian Industrial Standards (NIS), highlighted the critical role of quality assurance in Nigeria’s manufacturing sector. Speaking during the ceremony, Mr. Jibrin emphasized during the goodwill message that “Quality raw materials lead to quality products,” noting RMRDC’s continued efforts to collaborate with regulatory bodies like SON to enhance the value chain of locally sourced materials.

Key highlights of the ceremony included the formal presentation of MANCAP certificates to several manufacturers, including Meter Company Limited and NOCACO Company Limited, in recognition of their adherence to national quality standards.
In his remarks, SON Kaduna Coordinator, Engr. Mamza Irmiya Ijai, urged manufacturers to strictly adhere to established standards, warning that substandard products not only endanger consumers but also damage the credibility and sustainability of the local economy.
“Standardization is not optional,” Engr. Ijai stated. “Every product that reaches the market must meet the basic requirements to ensure the safety and satisfaction of end users.”
Mr. Jibrin reaffirmed RMRDC’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with SON and other stakeholders to improve the quality of raw materials accessible to Nigerian industries. “Raw materials are key to every product’s success. Our work is to ensure that what goes into production is worthy of what comes out,” he said.
The event also featured a mini exhibition of certified products and a roundtable discussion among industry stakeholders, with a special focus on quality control strategies for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Both RMRDC and SON emphasized that the ongoing initiatives such as capacity-building workshops and public awareness campaigns will be central to sustaining momentum in standardization and local content development across Nigeria.
Through strategic collaborations and regulatory support, the two agencies aim to bolster Nigeria’s industrial base, ensuring that products made in Nigeria can compete favourably on the global stage.
