The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) Katsina State Coordinating Office actively participated in a three-day workshop on the Ease Of Doing Business, held from November 12 to 14, 2024. The event, organized by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) in collaboration with the Katsina State Government, took place at the Katsina State Secretariat and focused on strategies to enhance the business climate in the Northwest region.
In her keynote address, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, PEBEC’s Executive Secretary and Vice-Chairman, underscored the council’s commitment to reducing bureaucratic hurdles and fostering a business-friendly environment. Dr. Oduwole highlighted PEBEC’s establishment in 2016 and its collaborative approach with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to drive impactful reforms nationwide.
Representing Governor Dr. Dikko Umar Radda, Deputy Governor Malam Faruk Jobe welcomed attendees and reaffirmed Katsina State’s dedication to PEBEC’s objectives. He emphasized the state’s rich agricultural and mineral resources as pivotal for regional economic growth. Alhaji Ibrahim Tukur Jikamshi, Director-General of the Katsina State Investment Promotion Agency (KIPA), called for a unified approach to attract investments and unlock the region’s economic potential.
The workshop featured technical sessions attended by key stakeholders, including state agencies, private sector representatives, industrialists, and federal agencies such as NAFDAC, SON, and ITF.
RMRDC Katsina Coordinator Mr. Abubakar Yusha’u played a critical role in discussions to develop actionable strategies for improving the ease of doing business in the region, pointing out RMRDC’s numerous achievements and contributions to the development of the economy in Nigeria.
Key resolutions from the workshop included leveraging technology to drive industrialization, streamlining regulatory frameworks, and fostering business-friendly reforms. These initiatives aim to position the Northwest as a hub for sustainable economic development and investment attraction.
The workshop reinforced a collaborative vision for enhancing Nigeria’s business environment, contributing significantly to the nation’s economic trajectory.
