The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Abia State Office, reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging digital innovation for sustainable industrial development during the Nigeria Tech Rally on Fostering an Inclusive Digital and Tech-Enabled Economy for Sustainable Development, held at the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC), Aba.
Delivering the Council’s goodwill message, the State Coordinator, represented by Senior Scientific Officer, Miss Opara Chinazum, commended the organizers for initiating a timely and strategic platform aimed at advancing digital inclusion and economic transformation.
She noted that in today’s rapidly evolving global landscape, digital innovation and technology have become indispensable tools for fostering economic transformation, industrial competitiveness, and inclusive growth. She emphasized that harnessing these technologies to unlock the full potential of Nigeria’s indigenous raw materials remains critical to achieving sustainable development, economic diversification, and reduced dependence on imports.
According to her, RMRDC recognizes technology as a vital bridge between research, industry, and the market. She highlighted that digital platforms, data-driven decision-making systems, and innovation ecosystems present significant opportunities for youth empowerment, MSME support, enhanced value addition, and sustainable industrial practices.

She further stated that under the leadership of the RMRDC Director General, Prof. Nnanyelugo Ike-Muonso the Council is ready to collaborate with innovation hubs, startups, research institutions, and industry stakeholders to ensure that Nigeria’s raw material resources are optimally developed and integrated into the nation’s digital economy framework.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Centre Manager of the Technology Incubation Centre, Aba, Mr. David-Leo Akachukwu, encouraged stakeholders to prioritize initiatives that promote digital inclusion, innovation, and entrepreneurship, stressing that technology remains a key driver of economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development.
Technical sessions at the rally featured presentations on fostering an inclusive digital economy, networking approaches for micro and small business competitiveness, and technology as a catalyst for industrial development. Discussions throughout the event underscored the necessity of strategic collaboration and innovation-driven policies to build a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable digital economy.
