The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) Cross River State Coordinating Office, in collaboration with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), and the CrossRiver State Ministry of Agriculture has commenced stakeholder engagement ahead of the forthcoming Sensitization and Investment Forum on Coffee Value Chain Development in Cross River State.
During a courtesy visit, the RMRDC State Coordinator, Mr. Obot Anozeng Eteng, alongside Mr. Kenneth C., Miss Emem Ndatah and the NEPC State Coordinator, Dr. Osas Damian, met with the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Irrigation, Hon. Johnson Ebokpo, to brief him on the objectives of the programme.
The State Coordinator, Mr. Eteng explained that the forum is designed to sensitize stakeholders, attract investors and promote sustainable practices across the coffee value chain, positioning Cross River as a leading hub for coffee production and processing in Nigeria.
Hon. Johnson Ebokpo applauded the initiative and expressed 100% support, noting that the programme aligns with the state government’s vision of agricultural diversification and economic empowerment. He pledged the ministry’s readiness to work closely with RMRDC and others to ensure the forum’s success, adding that coffee development could create an enabling environment for both local and foreign investors.
The upcoming forum is expected to bring together key players across the coffee value chain farmers, processors, exporters, financial institutions and policymakers to strengthen partnerships, drive value addition and expand export opportunities for Nigerian coffee.
The State Coordinator of NEPC, Mr Osas, appreciated the commissioner for his support. He went further to say that the initiative represents a major step towards boosting Nigeria’s share in the global coffee market while creating jobs, enhancing sustainability and deepening industrialisation.
