In their collective efforts to boost research activities, innovation and industrial development in the north central zone of Nigeria, the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) and the Nasarawa State Government have taken a significant step towards establishing a North-Central Research Complex, in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
This was demonstrated when delegates from the RMRDC and the Nasarawa State Ministry of Lands and Survey carried out a successful landscaping of the 10,000 square meter land allocated by the State Government for the proposed North-Central Research Complex.
Receiving the RMRDC delegation led by the Overseeing Director of States Industrial Extension Services Department (SIESD) Dr Mrs. Edith Chibuzor Obi, the Deputy Director of Lands and Urban Development, Mr Okah Ugboga commended RMRDC for its continued collaboration with the state in the area of raw materials development and boosting economic and industrial activities in the State. He encouraged the Council to commence physical development on the site and assured that a comprehensive report would be prepared for the attention of the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi A. Sule.
Responding on behalf of the RMRDC team, Dr Obi informed her host that RMRDC remains committed to catalysing economic and industrial activities across the country. She stated that the Council is always ready to partner with State Governments and relevant stakeholders in this regard. Accompanied by the RMRDC Nasarawa State Coordinator, Mr Yakubu A. Alaku, Dr Obi expressed the Council’s gratitude to the State Government for providing the land facility to begin the actualisation of the proposed North-Central Research Complex in the State, noting that it will boost research and innovation as well as economic and industrial activities in the State.
