The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) Kaduna State Coordinating office paid a courtesy visit to Engr. Dr. Kabiru Mu’azu, the newly appointed Director General of the National Research Institute for Chemical Technology (NARICT), Zaria, on Wednesday 05th of February, 2025 in recognition of his exceptional leadership.
The team, led by the state Coordinator Mal. Mutallab Jibril extended warm congratulations to Dr. Mu’azu on his appointment, recognizing his exceptional leadership and commitment to advancing chemical technology research in Nigeria.

In his speech, the State Coordinator, Mr. Mutallab highlighted the long-standing partnership between RMRDC and NARICT, two institutions that share a vision for industrial development in Nigeria. He commended Dr. Mu’azu for his track record of excellence and expressed confidence that his leadership would drive NARICT to new heights in the Research and Development of Chemical Technologies.
He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between the two institutions, particularly in areas such as joint research projects on local raw materials, capacity building through training programs, and supporting the commercialization of research outcomes. He reaffirmed RMRDC’s commitment to promoting the utilization of Nigeria’s Raw Materials Resources for industrial growth, noting that NARICT’s expertise would complement RMRDC’s focus on raw materials development.
In his response, Dr. Mu’azu expressed his gratitude for the visit and acknowledged the historical collaboration between RMRDC and NARICT, which began 22 years ago with the development of the first Indigenous Oil Extraction Pilot Plant and Production of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate Pilot Plant. He noted that although the partnership had waned over time, the arrival of new leadership at both agencies presented an opportunity to revive the collaboration. Dr. Mu’azu shared his intention to work closely with RMRDC to brainstorm new ideas for innovation and industrial growth, to reduce the country’s reliance on imports.
Both parties expressed optimism about the future of their partnership, looking forward to strengthening their joint effort.
