In a strategic push to enhance capacity development and institutional sustainability, the Director-General of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Professor Nnanyelugo Martins Ike-Muonso, has unveiled plans to collaborate with the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), Abuja, in restructuring the RMRDC Training School.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the NISS team to the Council, Professor Nnanyelgo Ike-Muonso emphasized that the partnership aims to reposition the Training School to become self-funding, self-reliant, and structurally sustainable, in line with global best practices.
The NISS delegation, led by Dr. Ed Tor-Anyiin, provided an overview of the Institute’s achievements and shared insights into how their expertise can contribute to the transformation of the RMRDC Training School. He was accompanied by Dr. F.C. Okpoifsit, a retired Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) official, who highlighted the value the collaboration would bring to RMRDC staff through specialized training and institutional strengthening.
Director of the Planning, Statistics and Policy Department (PSPD), Mrs. Rachel Kotso, commended the DG for the forward-thinking initiative and stressed the importance of incorporating security consciousness into staff development, noting that security is fundamental to human and institutional survival.

Also lending his voice, Mr. Chukwuma Ngaha, Director of the Directorate of Corporate Affairs (DCA), praised the proposed collaboration, noting its potential to empower staff and address emerging challenges in the raw materials sector. He encouraged robust research efforts to unlock new opportunities.
The Dean of the RMRDC Training School, Dr. Ify Olife, reiterated the school’s commitment to building staff capacity as a pathway to sustainability. She was joined by the Assistant Director, Dr. D. Kama, who also participated in the deliberations.
Concluding the meeting, Professor Nnanyelugo invited the NISS team to submit a comprehensive proposal outlining how the collaboration will be implemented and sustained. He emphasized the importance of strategy, marketing, and measurable outcomes to position the Training School as a model for excellence in capacity building.
