The Katsina State Office of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) actively participated in the third day of the Arewa Technology Festival, a major innovation event organized by the Katsina State Government to promote digital development across Northern Nigeria.
Held in Katsina, the festival brought together top-tier stakeholders, including executive governors, Federal Ministers, agency heads, members of the National Assembly, ICT professionals, and digital economy experts. The event served as a platform to foster collaboration, encourage investment, and spotlight regional potential in technology and innovation.
In his opening address, Mr. Naufal Ahmed, Director General of the Katsina State Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (KATDICT), commended RMRDC Katsina for its dedicated involvement in the festival. He described the event as a strategic avenue for idea exchange and investment in emerging digital technologies.

The Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umaru Radda emphasized the festival’s objective of positioning Katsina as a hub for technological advancement. He called on stakeholders to support the state’s digital transformation initiatives, particularly those aimed at youth empowerment, and announced plans for a dedicated Technology Village to nurture local talent and innovation.
Also addressing the gathering, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, stressed the transformative potential of ICT in Northern Nigeria, encouraging practical and impactful innovation.
In his closing remarks, Governor Radda acknowledged the efforts of Mr. Naufal Ahmed and the KATDICT team, applauding their leadership and commitment to advancing Katsina’s digital economy.

RMRDC’s engagement in the festival reflects its ongoing commitment to fostering innovation, supporting policy-driven technology initiatives, and promoting economic diversification through science and technology.
