As part of efforts to build practical knowledge among students of secondary school and promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, a group of students from System Education School, Kubwa, Abuja recently visited the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) in Abuja.
The students who were warmly received by the Deputy Director, Directorate of Corporate Affairs, Dr (Mrs) Grace Abidoye, expressed eagerness to learn about the Council’s efforts and achievements in Raw Materials processing and development in Nigeria.
During the visit, the students were taken on a guided tour of the RMRDC Resource Center, where they had the opportunity to see a wide range of raw materials on display. The center showcases various raw materials found in Nigeria, including minerals, and agricultural products.
The students were fascinated by the diverse array of raw materials and asked questions about their uses, applications, and economic benefits. The RMRDC staff were on hand to provide detailed explanations and insights, further enriching the students’ learning experience.
The visit was designed to inspire the students to pursue careers in STEM fields and to highlight the importance of raw materials in driving economic growth and development. By exploring the RMRDC Resource Centre, the students gained a deeper understanding of the role that raw materials play in shaping Nigeria’s economy and future.
RMRDC is committed to promoting STEM education and awareness among young people, and this visit was a valuable opportunity for the Council to share its expertise and inspire the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators.
A teacher from the school, Mr. Robert Sunday Eze who led the students, commended the DG/CEO and Management of RMRDC for the opportunity given to them to explore the numerous raw materials resources in various manufacturing and industrial sectors of the economy.
