The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) FCT State Coordinating Office has taken a significant step toward strengthening the ginger value chain in Nigeria by collaborating with the Ginger Farmers Association of Nigeria, represented by its National President, Squadron Leader Nuhu Bagani (Rtd).

During a strategic meeting held at the RMRDC FCT office in Utako, Abuja, the Coordinator, Olatubosun Olajubu, warmly welcomed the President and commended him for his continuous willingness to partner with the Council. Discussions focused on a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to drive sustainable growth in ginger production, processing, and marketing, particularly within the FCT.
Olajubu highlighted the importance of collaboration between research institutions and agricultural stakeholders in enhancing value addition and market expansion. He noted that the partnership aligns with RMRDC’s commitment to promoting Nigeria’s raw materials sector, mainly through the upcoming Investors’ Forum on Industrial Utilization of Ginger Value Chains and Its Economic Potentials in the FCT.
The objectives of the forum include:
– Showcasing the economic potential and industrial applications of ginger.
– Attracting investors to the ginger value chain in the FCT.
– Facilitating partnerships between local farmers, processors, and industries.
– Promoting value addition, job creation, and export opportunities.

In his remarks, Squadron Leader Bagani expressed optimism about the collaboration, emphasising the potential benefits for ginger farmers, investors, and the national economy. He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to ensuring that farmers adopt best practices in cultivation, post-harvest handling, and value-added processing.
The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to formalizing the partnership through the proposed MoU and working together to ensure a successful Investors’ Forum.
