In an effort to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and promote the industrial utilization of agricultural raw materials, the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Coordinating Office paid a strategic visit to the Agribusiness and Market Development Department of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security on Monday, June 23, 2025.
Held at the Department’s boardroom in Fadama House, Wuse II, Abuja, the high-level engagement was aimed at fostering mutual partnership and formally inviting the Ministry to the upcoming Investors’ Forum on the Ginger Value Chain, scheduled for July 8–9, 2025, in Abuja.
The RMRDC delegation was received by the Assistant Director of the Ministry, Mrs. Modupe Jegede, who stood in for the Director and introduced her team to the visitors.
Leading the RMRDC delegation was the RMRDC FCT State Coordinator, Mr. Olajubu O., who expressed appreciation for the warm reception and provided an overview of the Council’s mandate. He highlighted RMRDC’s role in the research, development, and promotion of Nigeria’s raw materials, with a focus on agricultural and mineral sectors. Mr. Olajubu emphasized the strategic importance of the Ministry in ensuring sustainable access to raw materials and formally invited the Department to participate in the Investors’ Forum, themed “Unlocking the Industrial Potentials of Ginger: A Pathway to Economic Growth in the FCT.”
In her response, Mrs. Jegede commended the RMRDC for its proactive approach and informative presentation. She underscored the alignment between the goals of both institutions and affirmed the Department’s readiness to participate in the Forum. She also recommended expanding stakeholder engagement to include other agribusiness clusters.
Key outcomes of the meeting included:
- A mutual agreement to establish formal collaboration between both institutions
- The Ministry’s commitment to attend and support the Ginger Investors’ Forum
- RMRDC’s inclusion in upcoming trainings and events hosted by the Department
- Continued exchange of programmes and initiatives for shared development goals
This strategic engagement highlights RMRDC’s sustained efforts to mobilize stakeholders toward unlocking the industrial potential of Nigeria’s agricultural value chains—beginning with the ginger sector in the FCT.
