As part of efforts to improve service delivery and workforce efficiency, the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) conducted the second phase of its Performance Management System (PMS) training for staff at its Abia Coordinating Office, held at the Council’s state office in Umuahia
Facilitated by the Technical Officer from the PMS Unit, Mr. Christopher Ejiogu, Mr. Ejiogu explained that transitioning from analogue to digital systems would foster greater accountability, boost productivity, streamline operations, and simplify performance appraisal and reward mechanisms. He emphasised that the training underscored the Council’s commitment to the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda.
During the session, participants were introduced to the Council’s five strategic goals, development of key result areas, key performance indicators, and specific objectives. A hands-on demonstration of the Task Manager feature was presented, detailing processes for task assignment, execution, and reporting of completed duties.
The State Coordinator Mrs. C.G. Oji-Nnorom expressed appreciation for the Director General’s dedication to human capacity development, describing the training as timely and crucial in overcoming operational challenges faced by the Abia State office. She also highlighted the importance of adequate ICT infrastructure, including reliable internet access, improved office facilities, and ongoing staff training—to sustain the successful implementation of the PMS program.
Staff members who participated in the training welcomed the initiative and pledged their commitment to effectively applying the PMS guidelines as directed by the Head Office.
This training reflects RMRDC’s ongoing efforts to leverage digital tools and strengthen human resources for enhanced organizational performance and service delivery.
