The Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Delta State Coordinating Office Asaba, recently received members of the Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), Delta State Chapter, on a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening collaboration between both bodies.

During the visit, the newly appointed Chairman of NASME Delta, lady Judith Ojevwe Nawchukwusa expressed her appreciation to the Council for its consistent efforts in supporting economic development through raw materials research and policy support. She emphasized that the purpose of their visit was to officially introduce the new leadership of NASME Delta and to express their eagerness to partner closely with RMRDC.
Lady Nawchukwusa noted that the relationship between RMRDC, NASME, NASSI, and MAN at the Federal level has been fruitful and should be mirrored in Delta State. She urged the RMRDC Delta Office to integrate NASME into its programs and initiatives, highlighting that small and medium enterprises across the state are keen to benefit from the Council’s resources, technical support, and research-driven innovations.

In her welcome remarks, the RMRDC Delta State Coordinator, Mrs Lesly Okon who received the NASME team and provided an overview of the Council’s mandate. She highlighted RMRDC’s focus on the sustainable utilization of the state’s abundant agro and mineral raw materials, and the Council’s drive to support local industries through strategic partnerships.
Mrs. Okon also shared recent developments within the Council under the leadership of the new Director-General, Prof. Nnanyelugo M Ike-Muonso noting that RMRDC is undergoing a revitalization to better serve stakeholders and drive industrial growth across sectors.
She further added that the Council is opening its doors wider to investors, entrepreneurs, and associations like NASME that are passionate about building a resilient local economy.
She also informed the NASME team about the upcoming First Africa Raw Materials Summit, to be hosted by RMRDC in Abuja, in the Month of May 20th to 23rd 2025 describing it as a landmark event that will spotlight Africa’s raw materials potential on a global stage.
