Staff of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Delta State Office, have been called upon to uphold transparency, integrity, and ethical practices in their official duties. The call was made during a one-day capacity-building training themed “The Importance of Collective Action in Fighting and Prevention of Corruption”.
The training, aimed at strengthening anti-corruption awareness within the organization, was facilitated by Engr. Ismail Ibrahim, Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), of RMRDC. Engr. Ibrahim emphasized that ACTU operates under the supervision of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), aligning with national mandates to promote integrity in public service.
In his presentation, Engr. Ibrahim identified key areas vulnerable to corruption in the public sector, including procurement processes, administrative procedures, human resource management, financial operations, and general office conduct. He outlined both preventive strategies and reporting mechanisms for corrupt practices, stressing the importance of vigilance and collective responsibility among staff.
“The fight against corruption is not the duty of a single individual or unit. It requires a collective effort,” he stated. “By promoting transparency and accountability, we create a more efficient, responsive, and credible institution.”
The Delta State Coordinator of RMRDC, Mrs. Okoh Lesley, expressed appreciation to the Council’s management for organizing the training. She commended the initiative as timely and impactful, urging staff to internalize the values of transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct in their daily operations.
“I encourage all staff to not only understand but also practice what has been taught today,” she said. “Transparent service delivery strengthens public trust and enhances institutional performance.”
The training is part of RMRDC’s ongoing efforts to entrench good governance practices across its state offices and support the national anti-corruption drive led by relevant agencies.
